Reprogram Your Mind, Rewrite Your Story, Elevate Your Life
An ongoing exploration of the wild ride that is reprogramming your subconscious mind and rewiring your brain to align with the life you’re truly meant to live.
Have you ever felt like you were living a life that wasn’t yours? Like you had done all of the “right” things, but eventually looked up and realized you were going down a path that wasn’t leading you where you wanted to go?
Maybe you couldn’t even explain it at the time…you just knew that wasn’t the path for you.
I had that knowing too, going on 10 years ago.
And let me tell you, the past decade of unlearning who I thought I was and redesigning life in alignment with who I actually am has been a wild ride.
As a hypnotherapist and deep lover of the subconscious mind, it now makes so much sense to me why so many of us find ourselves in lives that are not authentically ours.
We didn’t choose our subconscious programming, which is the 95-98% of us that is actually running the show behind the scenes of our conscious awareness. We inherited it by life circumstance between the ages of birth - 9ish. Our caregivers, society, life events — it all formed our core programming.
We didn’t choose it.
And yet, I believe we came into this life with a purpose. I believe that our soul has a mission here, and while we didn’t choose our subconscious programming we did choose to enter this life at this time.
This brings me to the question I’ve build my career on:
What happens when our subconscious programming is not in alignment with our soul’s purpose? When we know that we are meant to do something, yet our programming keeps us small when we are here to be seen? Or when we feel a clear calling for something, yet our programming tells us we can’t have it?
This is where the work of elevating comes in…
So what does it mean to elevate?
It means to become the author of your subconscious stories so that they fit you — your heart, your dreams, your authentic self — so that life, love, business, relationships, and your experience of being human feels better. Feels like yours.
For me, it’s meant getting very curious about who I thought I was to discover who I actually am and who I’m becoming.
A bit of my story
I was a “good” girl, a shy girl, and a massive people-pleaser. At least, that had been my programming for the majority of my life.
Therapy, coaching, and ultimately becoming a coach myself helped me begin to shift the narrative…but then I found myself in a new one.
Do more to heal.
This new thing is the fix.
If you’re not doing this, you’re failing.
More journaling.
More self-help books.
Are coaching.
More retreats.
More work.
More.
More.
More.
This new story was a cage of its own.
Around the same time, two things offered me an escape route from this new kind of hamster wheel of self-development — fantasy books and hypnosis.
I’ll come back to the power of fantasy in later posts, but first I want to talk about hypnosis.
Hypnosis is how we change our brains by communicating with the subconscious mind. It’s a method of collaborating with the brain to rewire it in service of our soul’s purpose. Or at the very least, rewire it to help us feel better.
The way I see it, hypnosis = choice.
We didn’t choose our original programming, but hypnosis helps us finally have a say in how we want to update our core stories to support who we actually are.
Introducing Notes on Elevating…
This is where Notes on Elevating comes in.
When we step into the role of the author of our own narratives that are ultimately running our lives behind the scenes, we get to choose: do I want to edit this story? Could I make it more joyful? Resilient? Abundant? Peaceful?
After working with thousands of clients in my near decade of change work, this is what I know to be true: If you elevate your story, you elevate your experience of life.
Notes on Elevating is an offering for those ready to have a say in your story. Ready for choice. Ready for confidence, joy, and expansion. And who want a place to come to and remember you’re not alone in this.
Hypnosis = more of you
This work lights my soul on fire because it’s an alternative way to make change that’s not only fast, but that’s deeply empowering. Hypnosis connects you deeper to you – your wisdom, intuition, and authentic knowing. While yes, some change can take longer, the methods I love are generally a work smarter, not harder approach to changing your life, backed by neuroscience, somatic research, and elements of many of the modalities that have helped me elevate my own life including yoga, reiki, and spirituality.
What this space is
This substack is an invitation for you to join me in learning how to unlearn in service of finally exhaling into the authentic you that you’re here to be.
Take what works for you, leave what doesn’t, and allow yourself to be curious. It’s a space where I’ll share personal stories from my own decade of being on this (sometimes messy) path of remembering who I really am, insights from client experiences, the science of brain change, and other tips, tools, and inquiries to support your own elevation.
What to expect:
Here for free subscribers, you can expect a monthly newsletter that will hopefully leave you feeling curious, more in the know on how your brain works, and a little more in love with yourself.
For paid friends, you’ll receive a Weekly Elevation that includes a combination of short hypnosis recordings, practices, or inquies to explore further. In whichever way you choose to join me, know I am deeply grateful for your sacred attention in this overstimulating world and that I am doing this work right alongside you.
A note on the modalities
I’m a certified Integrative Hypnotist, Theta Healing Hypnotherapist, Life + Leadership Coach, Yoga Teacher, and Reiki Practitioner. I am not licensed mental health professional. As a hypnotist, I look at all things as patterns in the brain, and all people as unique individuals that can not be put in a box. Please take what works for you and leave what doesn’t!
Cheers to elevating together!

Kelsey
